The US Men head to Scotland

It's always good to see the US team in action. Tomorrow starts the official training run for the World Cup and it will happen against a team that will only be watching the events in Germany on the TV. Scotland made a good run at things late, but they were really out classed. The US, however made history by winning their conference for the first time. But that does not mean tomorrow's match will be easy, because it will not be.

The Scots have nothing to worry about, so they will be relaxed. The US, however, will be made up of a lot of people who have not played together much. Also with Brain McBride and now Oguchi Onyewu out of the game, there will be a limited amount of international experience on the pitch.

Without McBride and Onyewu (plus Donovan), the youngsters like Heath Pearce and Chris Rolfe will not have the guidance that they should have. This will lead to some messy play and missed opportunities. However, it also opens the window to a possible surprise. I could see someone like Brian Ching making a good show for himself. It will also be interesting to see what Santino Quaranta can make happen in the midfield.

So what kid of line up with the Bruce start with. I am normally wrong when I guess, but I'll give it a try.

Kasey Keller
Gregg Berhalter, Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo, Jimmy Conrad
DaMarcus Beasley, Ben Olsen, Santino Quaranta, Benny Feilhaber
Brian Ching, Josh Wolff

I think this is going to be a back and forth happening, but with Keller between the posts, the US should survive any miscues they make. Scotland 1 - 2 US
