MLS All-Time Best XI
Just a little while ago, MLS commissioner Don Garber announced the MLS All-Time Best XI. Without much more waiting, here they are:
Goalkeeper
Tony Meola
Defenders
Eddie Pope
Jeff Agoos
Marcelo Balboa
Midfielders
Marco Etcheverry
Landon Donovan
Carlos Valderrama
Preki
Peter Nowak
Forwards
Jaime Moreno
Brian McBride
A good list of folks, but I'm not sure Peter Nowak should be on it. He was good, but I think his results as coach might have influenced the voting. By the way, if any doubts DC United's claim as the big dogs in MLS during the first ten years, you only need to notice that four of the players Best XI spent large portions of their careers in DC plus one other one now coaches the team. Does this make DC United the Yankees of MLS?
