East Asian Games - Soccer, Day 6

Group B finished up action today with a bit of a surprise. First, the non-surprise. Hong Kong played Macau. Seeing as Macau had been outscored 0-23 in their two previous matches, they could not have been expecting much here. Sure enough, they lost, but only by 7. Hong Kong got goals from Tse Man Wing, Sham Kwok Fai, Lo Kwan Yee (2) and Chan Siu Ki (3). With this result, they needed China to beat North Korea by more then 8 goals to advance. It didn't happen.

China faced off against their only real test in the group, and they could not handle it. North Korea got three goals in the open half to take the game 3-1. North Korea goals were scored by Kim Chol Ho, Hong Yong Jo and An Chol Hyok. China's lone goal was from midfielder Wang Ke.

With the win, North Korea takes the group. They move on to face the second place team in Group A. This team just happens to be South Korea. That should be fun. The other match will also be very interesting as Japan will play China.

Group B Table
North Korea - 7pts
China - 6
Hong Kong - 4
Macau - 0
