East Asian Games - Soccer, Day 5

Group A finished up action today with Japan taking on South Korea. The two sides played an even first half with neither team getting a goal but both having chances, but Japan took over in the second 45. Japan got goals from Komatsu Rui and Akamine Shingo to win the game and the group 2-0.

Group B finishes up tomorrow with Hong Kong playing Macau and North Korea taking on China. It is looking like the first round of the knockout phase will see Japan play North Korea while China will get South Korea. Hong Kong could still overtake North Korea in Group B, but they will have to make up a -15 goal difference (which might happen seeing as Macau has already had 23 goals scored on them in 2 outings).

Anyway, here is the final table for Group A:
Japan - 6pts
South Korea - 3
Chinese Taipei - 0
