Get Your ESPN2 On
ESPN2 will air two wonderful matches today. At 4pm EST, the MetroStars travel to LA to take on lowly Chivas USA. Thanks to a late goal by KC in Dallas last night, the Metros need to win if they want to go to the playoffs. Anything less and they just get to go home. For Chivas, a win would let them end the season in fifth place. Even a tie would set a Chivas record as they would get points in three consecutive matches (their previous high is two). These two tied when they met on 21 Aug and the MetroStars have underperformed all season against expansion teams, so who knows what could happen.
Once that match comes to a conclusion, along with the MLS regular season, the US Women's National Team take to the field at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California. They will battle Australia, the 16th best team in the world. These two faced off in the 2004 Olympics with the game ending in a 1-1 tie. It was the only game the Women did not win in Greece. I'm sure the women will be looking for some revenge.
So get the burgers grilling, the beer chilling and enjoy.
