Greece has a harder time with Kazakhstan then expected, but still came out on top. The pressure is now on Turkey to stay ahead of their rivals by winning in Ukraine.

Update - Turkey was able to step up to the pressure and get a huge win on the road against Ukraine.

Portugal did not book their trip due to a surprisingly strong 10-man Russian side. With Slovakia also ending up with a tie, all three of these teams could still win Group 3. Portugal has the easy schedule of the teams, so this might all come down to the final match between Russia and Slovakia on Oct 12.

A big surprise happened in Group 8 with Malta finally getting a point by tying first place Croatia. With that tie, all Sweden needs to do is beat Hungary, and they will be the group leaders.

With their win, the Czech Republic will move into the second spot in Group 1, meaning Romania will need to a big win in their last match (Oct 8) while hoping the Czechs fall to both group leader Netherlands and fourth place Finland.

Update 2 - Israel got the win they needed to keep their hopes alive in Group 4. Also, with their win, Scotland still has a chance in Group 5, but it is not much of one. They still need a lot of crazy stuff to happen, but by beating Norway tonight, it might just happen.

Update 3 - Denmark beat Georgia to stay in striking distance of Group 2. They will next face Greece on 8 Oct. They need to win that match and their final against Kazakhstan and hope for a Greece victory or a tie in their game against Turkey on the final day. If all that happens, they will claim the number 2 spot.

Update 4 - With their 4-0 win, the Netherlands can do no worse then second place in Group 1, but they will be looking for the direct spot to Germany in their next match against the Czech Republic. Slovenia pulled even with Norway in Group 5 by beating Moldova, however they next get to face Italy who will be looking for points to clinch. Wales failed to help their neighbors by falling to Poland in Group 6. Poland is still ahead of England who is currently down a goal to Northern Ireland.

Update 5 - Northern Ireland pull off the big upset and send England home with nothing. Can't wait to see what the press says about England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and David Beckham tomorrow. England will need to beat Austria (8 Oct) to setup a Group 6 showdown for first in with Poland (12 Oct). It's going to be a long month for the English side. Sweden is now in first place in Group 8.

Update 6 - France have beat Ireland to move into a tie with Switzerland for first place in Group 4. Ireland now sit in fourth place behind Israel.
