Clint Mathis gets two match suspension

Clint Mathis got two more games taken away from him today when MLS's Disciplinary Committee suspended him for two additional matches after last Saturday's blow-up against Chivas USA. He was also fined $4750. The committee also suspended Chivas USA defender Esteban Arias for one additional game and fined him $500.

Mathis's fine resulted from his confronting officials during the match.

Both men received red cards during the match.

Soccer365 has a good write-up of the story.

Mathis will miss games against New England (tonight), Kansas City (Aug 13) and San Jose (20).

Esteban will miss games against LA (tonight) and DC (Aug 13).
