Champions League results

Even with fans staying away in protest of Man United's new owners (the Glazer brothers), they showed they could put on a good show. Wayne Rooney was the spark for the team. He scored the first goal in the 7th minute and setup Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo for the other two. The two teams will meet again on Aug. 24th. MU 3 - Debrecen 0

Last year's surprise hit Everton ran into trouble against Spanish side Villarreal. Everton fell down a goal in the 27th minute when Luciano Figeroa fired a very strong shot in, but tied it in the 42nd when James Beattie equalized. However, Josico put the visitors right back on top. The next match will be in Spain on Aug. 24th. Everton 1 - Villarreal 2
