England's coach coming to DC to see Beckham and MLS standard of play

England's national team coach Steve McClaren will be among the thousands of people at RFK stadium on Thursday to watch DC United take on the LA Galaxy. McClaren will be there to talk with Beckham regarding his recovery from injury as well as judge the standard of play in the MLS.
'I know David has been struggling with injury and has not played yet but I intend to go over and have a chat with him to see how he is.

'I definitely need to speak with his coach (Frank Yallop) and the director of football (Alexei Lalas) as well, but I also need to watch an MLS game in the flesh and have a look at the standard.

'A lot of people have been writing things about the standard of football over there.

'But I need to see it myself and make that judgment rather than other people.'
McClaren will announce his roster for England's August 22nd friendly against Germany next week, and even though Beckham will likely not be on it, this was the best time for him to fit in a trip to the US to take in a game.

With a crowd of over 50,000 a possibility and a DC United team that is looking to move ever closer to the top of the East, this should be a very good match for McClaren to watch.
