Screams of 'Freedom' at Copa America
While the US men was busy with Argentina, something interesting happened in the stands. Just a little into the second half, a number of fans started chanting anti-Chavez slogans including 'Freedom' and 'This government is going to fall'.
In order to combat large anti-government protests, President Hugo Chavez banded protesting near games, airports, highways and hotels (ie anywhere people might see them) and also promising a crackdown on anyone who breaks these rules. Still, about half of the 40,000 people in the stadium chanted for about 3-minutes.
This has nothing much to do with soccer, but it is interesting to watch.
