Let's get Real - Real Madrid vs. Real Salt Lake

Yesterday, FC Barcelona announced their touring dates for the US, but could an announcement from their La Liga rivals Real Madrid be coming soon?

Last year Real Madrid played LA in Los Angeles, but this year the talk has then going to Utah to capture the title of "most Real team in the world." The possible date for this match is August 12th. If this does come about, the game will not be played in their regular stadium of Rice-Eccles Stadium as it has artificial turf.

In the past team owner Dave Checketts has said that any major international matches would be played at LaVell Edwards Stadium, on the campus of BYU. It has a natural grass field and can hold about 20,000 more spectators (68,000 total capacity).

It seems a deal between RSL and BYU to rent the stadium is in the final stages, indicating that an announcement could be coming soon.

Very interesting. I hate to imagine how badly poor Real Salt Lake will get pummelled. I always like to see the MLS teams do well even though I am a Real Madrid fan.
