Sydney FC wins A-League title

Dwight Yorke topped off a great week by setting up the lone goal that gave his Sydney FC side the A-League title.

On Tuesday, Yorke scored 2 goals for Trinidad & Tobago to give them a victory in London over Iceland. He then took the long flight back to Australia. Just 56-hours after touching down, he was on the pitch with his club.

He played only so-so during the first half, but cam to life in the second. His best moment was in the 62nd minute when he managed to thread a ball through two defenders to find teammate Steve Corica at the edge of the box. Corica placed took the pass and placed the ball into the left corner of the net. This would be the only goal of the night. For his work, Yorke was named the man of the match.

Yorke is the highest paid player in the A-league earning $900,000 a year. When the team signed him a year ago, it was seen as a little risky, but after today's game, all doubts should be released.

As for the A-League, this first year has been a huge success. More then a million fans passed through the gates during the 90 league games including a sell-out crowd of 41,689 to see the final.
