Weekly Chicago Fire News

What's up with the Chicago Fire? Every week the club puts out an update and I thought some of you might like to read what is going on in the Windy City.

Today marks a very special day for forwards Nate Jaqua and Chris Rolfe as they begin training with the US national team. They are part of the group training ahead of various friendlies in January and February. They will also be hoping to impress Bruce Arena enough to earn one of the 23 spots on the World Cup roster.

Jaqua and Rolfe will not be the only Fire forwards in national camp this month as Will Johnson will also be in one. However, he will be representing Canada. He will first train with the U-20 Men's team ahead of the 2006 Chivas Cup youth tournament (Jan 7-14 in Guadalajara, Mexico) and then move on to the senor team training at the Home Depot Center later in the month. The US and Canada play each other on January 22nd.

Goalkeeper Zach Thornton is heading over to England to train with the EPL side Blackburn Rovers. This is his fifth season in a row doing this.

Season tickets for the inaugural season at Bridgeview Stadium are now for sale. You can purchase tickets by calling 1-888-MLS-FIRE or visit their web site.

Finally, the Fire has 6 spots in the upcoming (January 20) MLS Super Draft. They have one spot in the first round (10), four in the second round (14,19,20 & 22) but one will have to go to FC Dallas in exchange for last year's 29th overall pick, one in the third round (34) and their last one in the fourth round (46).

There is the news for the Fire.
