Could US players strike?
What a great question to ask on Labor Day. Mark Zeigler points out an issue that needs to be addressed very soon.
"The national team players and US Soccer are still without a collective bargaining agreement", which could cause players to miss training camps and friendlies. I agree with Mark that the odds of players striking a World Cup are very low, but if they don't have time to play together, their odds of doing well in the Cup are also very low.
I really don't know what all the issues are, but both sides need to work this out. If they can get a working contract by October or so, then Bruce Arena will be able to get his team up to World Cup level. I fear that if it goes much beyond then, it will hurt our chances come June.
Good luck to all and happy Labor Day.
