Ukraine's missed the chance to get their spot in the final. With their tie, they only need one more point in their next two matches to go through. Turkey hurt their chance at the number two position in the group by tying with Denmark. Greece, who is in third, is two points behind Turkey but have a game in hand. Turkey will also have to play their final two games on the road with one of them being against Ukraine.

France's victory puts them in a three-way tie for first place with Switzerland and Ireland. It was a good "welcome back" performance for Zinedine Zidane, but the real test will come on Wednesday when they travel to Ireland. Israel’s tie with Switzerland makes their chances even harder, but their final two matches are against basement holders Faroe Islands. It will be hard for them to take first, but they might just grab that second place group spot.

The folks in England have got to be happy with the win, but worried about their side’s performance. Even through they controlled the ball for almost the whole of the game, they only managed to get one goal. Still, one goal is all you need sometimes. Poland continued their roll by beating third place Austria. On Wednesday they will host Wales, but I think the big match will be the final on October 12th in England.

Portugal stayed on top of Group 3 with an easy win over Luxembourg. Second place Russia kept their hopes alive with a 2-0 victory against Liechtenstein, however, third place Slovakia did not play today so Russia's hold on second might not last. Slovakia has the easier schedule since they have played both their matches against Portugal while Russia gets to face the top seaters on Wednesday. Still, second place might all come down to the final match of the group when Slovakia hosts Russia on October 12th.

Ukraine did qualify. With Turkey's draw, they are seven points up with two matches to go.

Hello incendiarymind, thanks for the comment, but I did not say the Ukraine qualified. Here is what I said:

Still, thanks for reading.

I know. You're saying Ukraine didn't qualify yet and I'm saying they did. Though doing the math myself, I have no idea how either. But unless every news source in the world has it wrong, we're missing something.

incendiarymind, I just read that myself. I did the math and figured they still needed a point, I guess I'm wrong. Hope I didn't come across as an a**.

Thanks for pointing it out.
