2007 Copa America - Brazil tops Uruguay on kicks
The soccer gods again smiled down on Brazil tonight as they took Uruguay on kicks to advance to the final on Sunday. Both sides looked strong through out the full 120 minutes. Every time it looked like Brazil was about to pull away, Uruguay would push themselves right back into it.
Then came the kicks. Brazil could have won it on their fifth attempt, but Afonso bounced it off the bar. Then Uruguay had their chance to win it on the seventh kick after Fernando failed to convert. Strangest thing, Pablo Garcia knocked it off the side bar. At that point, it just felt like a night for Brazil.
Sure enough Gilberto converted Brazil's next chance and Diego Lugano's must make was saved.
Brazil goes wild.
