Thursday Night Soccer - FCD vs. RSL - First meets worst
FC Dallas (6-5-1) vs. Real Salt Lake (0-3-6)
9pm ET/6pm PT
TV: ESPN2
FC Dallas, the top team in the West, travels to Salt Lake tonight to see if they can keep Real Salt Lake at the bottom of the table.
A lot has been made of FCD's lack of offensive options with Kenny Cooper and Carlos Ruiz not available, however the club was doing alright with Abe Thompson, Dominic Oduro and Arturo Alvarez leading things against LA and Real doesn't have the defense that LA has. I guess the thing that complicates the matter is they will need to get at least two goals to get the win because their defense has yet to keep a clean sheet.
If Real can get Alecko Eskandarian some good balls in stride, they will cause much worry in Dallas's backfield. Many of those passes will need to come from Freddy Adu, but he seems to have trouble realizing what is happening anywhere on the pitch except within 5 feet of himself, so it might be a big undertaking.
There is a good chance this will come down to a battle between the goalkeepers as both Nick Rimando (RSL) and Dario Sala (FCD) looking strong in their recent games while their defenses have looked less so. If it does, I don't have a clue who will win this thing.
Predictions: Me FCD 1-1 RSL, Wife FCD 3-1 RSL
