Poll - How many MLS teams should make the playoffs?

MLS's home page has a poll up asking 'How many teams should qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs?' (It is way down at the bottom on the left hand side).

I think this is a very interesting topic that must be addressed. I personally think 8 teams are way too many.

Does it make sense that a team that only got 2 points from 10 matches and did not score a single goal in the month of May is still in the running for a playoff spot? Does it make sense that a team that has played as poorly as the Columbus Crew has all year where in the playoff hunt up to the last three weeks? Does it make sense that 2 teams are going to make the playoffs playing under .500?

I don't think so, but it seems I'm in the minority as 48% think 8 is a good number and, get this, 6% think there should be more then 8 teams in the playoffs.

I wrote about my solution to the MLS playoff problem a few weeks ago. Having the top six clubs advance makes complete sense to me. What do you think?

By the way, this is the second interesting poll MLS have put up in the last two weeks. The other one was should the MLS say with East and West conferences or go single table (single table won with about 75% of the vote). Could these polls give some sort of insight into what MLS is think about doing next season?
