John O'Brien going to Chivas USA

Chivas USA has called a press conference to announce the introduction of a new player. With all odds that player will be John O'Brien (pictured).

O'Brien was the midfield spark for the US during the 2002 World Cup, where he was voted best midfielder of the tournament, but he has had numerous hamstring and Achilles injuries since then. This lead Ajax to cut him in February.

If he can keep free of injury and make a quick impact in the MLS, he has a chance of making the German roster. The good news for him, Bruce Arena called him into camp for the Jamaica match. He deserves this chance, now we'll see what he can do with it.

Chivas will make their announcement at 4pm ET.

Update: It is now official. Here is the press release. If he stays healthy, Chivas has just got themselves a great player. Could this help make 2006 the year of the goat?

Nice find. Adding JOB will be a great move for MLS and will make the LA derby much more competitive (though based on Chivas' play this Sunday they're already far improved from last year's joke squad, even without JOB).
