Houston's Eddie Robinson suspended three games for attack on KC's Wahl

The Houston Dynamo are rapidly becoming the Oakland Raiders of MLS as Eddie Robinson has been suspended for three matches and fined $1000 after an ugly, ugly elbow to the face of Kansas City Wizards defender Tyson Wahl (see video below).

As you can see from the video, this was a horrible, intentional act by Robinson. Combine this with Ricardo Clark's 9 game suspension for kicking the little fish last season and you have a reputation starting to take hold. (Here is the video of Clark's kick - it will open Windows Media Player).

Oddly enough, I think Robinson's act is worse then Clark's because Robinson's seems premeditated and the action is not taking place near him at the time while Clark looks to be reacting poorly to things taking place around him.

I think Clark's suspension was too harsh (the rest of the 2007 season would have been enough) and I don't think Robinson's is enough (5 games would have been more justified). Then again, Tyrone Marshall was only suspended for three games after his nasty tackle that broke Kenny Cooper's leg last season so I guess the lesson is the more physical harm you do in your attack, the less your suspension will be.

Anyway, the loss of Robinson just adds to Houston's defensive problems. Although it is only three games into the new season, it looks like the defensive giant that was Houston 2007 might be dead on the pitch. And the tears for Ryan Cochrane begin to fall in Dynamo land.

Tyrone Marshall suspended for three after breaking Cooper's leg

Toronto FC's new hire Tyrone Marshall will miss the clubs next three matches as a result of his serious foul against FC Dallas's Kenny Cooper. In addition, Marshall has been fined $1500 or about 2.7% of his MLS salary. Marshall's first available match is July 4th against Real Salt Lake.

Kenny Cooper's next available match is not known but will be much, much later in the year.

The MLS also fined and suspended FCD assistant coach Marco Ferruzzi after he received a red card in the 90th minute of the same match. Ferruzzi was upset over the hard foul on Cooper. He will miss tonight's match against Real Salt Lake and have to pay a $500 fine.

LA get a Buddle from TFC for Marshall

Looks life LA is trying to do something about their complete inability to score even if it means letting go of one of their mainstay defenders.

Tyrone Marshall has been traded from the Galaxy for Edson Buddle. At this moment, it looks like TFC got the better of the deal as Buddle has been flat for most of the last two seasons while Marshall has been a key part of LA's strong defense over the last few years.

That said, with just 8 goals in 8 matches, Frank Yallop needs to do something to inspire his club on the attack. And with Abel Xavier joining the club, this is a worthwhile risk. Also, at 6ft 1in in height, he gives Beckham a decent target on free kicks.

A little footnote, Tyrone Marshall's last play for LA was one that resulted in FC Dallas's Kenny Cooper breaking his leg. Becuase of this, Marshall will not be available for TFC's match on Sunday in Dallas.
