Chicago get Blanco
He might not be in his prime, but Cuauhtemoc Blanco is still a force and now he will apply his trade in Chicago.
After months of negotiations, the Fire has convinced Blanco to leave Mexico's Club America. Details of the deal have not been released, but previous statements seem to suggest he will earn $1.5-2.5 million a year.
With Blanco leading the attack from the middle, Chris Rolfe and Chad Barrett should have more then their share of through balls. The interesting question will be how Justin Mapp and Blanco work together. It really could turn into a lethal combination.
Blanco will not join MLS till the end of the Mexican season later this month. I can only guess how many more tickets they will sell with this move. Blanco is a legend in the Mexican game. His exclusion from last year's World Cup squad set off protests and filled fans with much anger.
Congrats to Chicago for signing him.
