MLS Week 24 Predictions
Here's a quick look at this weekend's great MLS action.
New England vs Columbus
Saturday - 7:30pm EST
TV: Direct Kick
New England is the best team in the MLS while Columbus is fighting for the playoffs. The Crew is coming in with a three game winning streak while the Revs have won 4 of their last 5. NE is doing well, but Taylor Twellman and Clint Dempsey might be tired due to their time with the national team but Matt Reis will be fired up to be back on the pitch since he did not see a single minute of play during the two US games. If the Crew want to win this, they will need their defense to shutdown the Revs and then counterattack. If they cannot figure out how to confuse NE, they will fall.
NE 2 - Columbus 1

KC Wizards vs. MetroStars
Saturday - 8pm EST
TV: Direct Kick
These two met just last week with the MetroStars getting a late equalizer to walkout with a point. This time KC is home (will anyone show up?) and they have Jimmy Conrad and super sensation Scott Sealy back from international duty. It will also be interesting to see if KC's Jack Jewsbury can add to his 2 game scoring streak. For the Stars, they will need to do the same thing as the Crew, play great defense. If they can keep the Wiz's frontline tied up, they have a good chance at a point. Still, I think that's not going to happen.

FC Dallas vs DC United
Saturday - 8:30pm EST
TV: Fox Soccer Channel, Direct Kick, HDNet
DC will be looking for revenge when they travel to the new PHP due to Dallas throwing them out of the US Open Cup. They will also be looking to reset their team after last weekend's 1-0 drop in Colorado. DC will be without Moreno due to suspension and midfielder Ben Olsen. This will hurt DC. If they have someone ejected from the game (as they have in 3 of their last 4 matches), they will be in trouble. DC is in a bit of a slump, but lucky for them FCD is in an ever-bigger one. For Dallas, this is the game they need to win in order to spark their side during the final weeks of play. A win against DC in and in their new home would be something sweat. The problem for FCD is keeper Jeff Cassar is still injured and Eddie Johnson has yet to recover from his toe problem. If Eddie can finally get back to form, he will cause some pain for United. Failing that, it might just be a hard night in Dallas. This one could go either way, but I think DC is going to feel more of a fire then Dallas.
FCD 1 - DC 2

LA Galaxy vs Colorado Rapids
Saturday - 10pm EST
TV: HDNet
This is the fourth and final meeting of these two in the regular season. So far the results have all been related to home field advantage. For the Galaxy, they will have Landon Donovan, Chris Albright and Guillermo Ramirez back from international time and looking to get LA above .500. The Rapids come in with a five game unbeaten streak and seem ready to make a run at both LA and Dallas in the West. They will also have Jeff Cunningham back, but they will be without Jean-Philippe Peguero due to suspension. This will be a physical game, but I think LA is going to recover their home field stance.
LA 2 - Colorado 1

San Jose Earthquakes vs Chivas USA
Saturday - 10pm EST
TV: Direct Kick
The Quakes have gone unbeaten in their last seven games and have clinched a playoff spot. Chivas looked all right on the road with their new transfers but then fell to crap at home against Columbus last week. There really is no reason San Jose should loose this game and that might be what causes them to loose this game. Still, I think that is a long shot. All and all, San Jose should add three more points to their total by the end of the night.
