Brain McBride overshadows Michael Owen
Michael Owen played his first game back in the EPL, but it was USA's own Brain McBride that shined. He scored in the 13th minute and kept Fulham's offense alive all day.
As far as Owen, "Given the rich tradition of scoring debuts in the colours of Newcastle United, there was even more impetus on Michael Owen to emerge as an instant messiah. 'Please welcome,' urged the PA announcer as the striker emerged last out of the tunnel, 'YOUR Michael Owen!'"
Owen was not much of a factor in the game. That will change in the next few weeks as he gets use to the club, but even with all his talent, Newcastle are missing something. As the article points out, "In the space of four days Owen moved from one team with a midfield crisis to another."
Without people feeding him balls, he can't do much.

The only thing that worries me as a Fulham fan more than someone who wants Yanks abroad to do well is that the entire offense seems to depend completely on Brian McBride to the point where no one else is doing anything. Even the best players seem to go through a slump and when that happens to McBride, I worry for Fulham. Still, it's an amazing year for McBride now that he's getting a chance every game.
Incendiarymind, I know what you mean. I'm still hoping Heidar Helguson will pickup some of the slack. If a team's offense is just one player, that team is going to loose.
With McBride, I'm hoping this helps build his confidence before Germany. Great thing to see indeed.
